McLaren P14 Spied on the Road

2016-mclaren-p14-spy-photos

The McLaren 650S has already been out two years and it seems a replacement is in the world: the P14. This new model has been regarded as a junior P1 and will more than likely see a debut in the coming months, but nothing is truly certain as of right now.

What IS certain is the fact that Petrol Ped has witnessed the P14 on the road for himself. While on a drive in the U.K., he spotted a heavily camouflaged car and sent pictures of the car across his social platforms, asking what it was. The response was that this is indeed the undisclosed P14.

Along with the P14, will we also see the launch of the successor to the F1 next year? Only time will tell, but it looks like next year is going to be a great year in the supercar world.

First Bugatti Chiron Crash Has Happened

Yes, you read that correctly: the first Bugatti Chiron crash has happened. An image of a Chiron being towed by a construction truck via straps have surfaced on GTBOARD.com’s Facebook page. According to TheDrive.com, the accident happened in Wolfsburg, Germany. This area also happens to be where Volkswagen Group’s headquarters is located.

A Bugatti spokeswoman told BILD: “The driver was unfortunately a little inattentive, which is why the car landed in the road ditch. Fortunately nobody was hurt.”

Thankfully, nobody was hurt. However, it still stinks to see parts a $2.5 million hypercar being dragged across the road as it’s being towed. Also, we’re also not sure if this was a test car or one that was meant for a customer. As soon as more information is released, we’ll be sure to write about it. So be sure to check back for more info on the world’s first Bugatti Chiron crash.

Something unprecedented is being planned for this weekend in Daytona Beach, Florida. The historic high banked turns of Daytona International Speedway will be host to over 1,000 Ferraris in order to break the world record for the largest parade of Ferraris.

We were curious why the track’s owner, Jim France, took a vacation to Maranello last year. Now, we can gather that this trip was probably intended to plan the details of the event. Taking place December 1st to 4th, this Sunday will see the first Ferrari Mondiali in the USA. At the Ferrari Mondiali, a plethora of event will be taking place, including the record-breaking lap and the anticipated Finali Mondiali 2016.

We invite you to join us along with Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The prestigious dealer has devised two packages for the weekend (Scuderia Shields not included). For the world record breaking parade around the track, $255 includes a parking pass and entry to the event. But if you want the VIP experience it will set you back $2,500 . That price includes:

LaFerrari Coupe to Benefit Earthquake Victims

Car Detailing Phoenix LaFerrari

One of the strongest earthquakes in recent history rocked northern Italy back on August 24th. Measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale, it leveled countless historic buildings and took the lives of several hundred people. Only 499 examples of the LaFerrari were initially planned, but Chairman and CEO Sergio Marchionne has authorized production of an additional coupe that will be sold to benefit those affected by the earthquake.

Volunteers from across Europe and the Red Cross are working day and night to help those affected get back on their feet, so expect to see a bidding war for the rights to car #500. Similarly, Ferrari only built 399 examples of the Enzo with car #400 being reserved for the Pope. The Vatican recently sold the car and used the proceeds for the Church’s humanitarian efforts around the world. It was a sensation at Monterey last year as we watched RM Sotheby’s hammer it for over six million dollars.

Our thoughts go out to those affected by this tragedy, and if you are interested in helping please contact the Red Cross for more information.

Is This the World’s Most Expensive Paint Job?

After owning a car for a while, some owners find themselves wondering if they should paint their car. Some skimp on the paint job due to the price, while some go all out. But, what about those who spend five figures for an optional paint job?

In a video uploaded by Vehicle Virgins, we get the chance to see one of the world’s most expensive paint jobs. His friend had purhcased a McLaren 675LT Spider, but instead of going with a normal factory finish, he opted for something a little different.

When viewed from different angles this McLaren changes its color, turning the car into a rolling chameleon. How much did it cost to get such a finish? $60,000. That means the paint on his car cost as much as the base price of a new Porsche Cayenne. Insane? Yes. Unheard of? No. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a finish like this on a McLaren (C.J. Wilson’s P1). Also, according to Jalopnik, the price of the Porsche 918 Spyder’s Liquid Metal Chrome Blue Paint costs $63,000.

Electric Hypercar Crushes LaFerrari and Tesla Model S in Race

Electric Hypercar Crushes LaFerrari and Tesla Model S

rimac-one-hero-1

I first wrote about the Rimac Concept One hypercar three years ago. Since then, there hasn’t been a whole lot of news regarding the car, but a new video from Archie Hamilton Racing’s YouTube channel showcases the electric hypercar.

To test the Concept One’s capabilities, the team paired it up against the brutal acceleration of the Tesla Model S P90D and the incomparable LaFerrari. If you’re unaware of the Concept One’s abilities, in the three-year-old article I noted that the car is powered by a 92-kWh battery that sends energy to four sets of electric motors at each of the wheels. This power created equals out to around 1,088 bhp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. With a kerb weight of 4,188, the Concept One can rocket from 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds (in the old article it’s stated that its 0-68 time is 2.8, but the website now says 2.6).

Does this new hypercar have the ability to take down the Model S and LaFerrari? If you’ve read the title, then you know the answer. Check it out below!
