Lamborghini Active Aero

Learn What Makes the Lamborghini Active Aero So Incredible

professional interior car cleaning Phoenix

A few weeks ago Lamborghini released a brilliant teaser video showcasing their latest achievement. The active aerodynamic system (ALA) on the Lamborghini Huracan Performante is a novel approach to controlling lift, drag, and downforce. New spoilers front and rear are computer controlled. We knew they were also programmed to help in cornering, but the details of the system were not made clear. Engineering Explained has gained a following by making sense of complex designs, so he decided to break it down for us.

The front spoiler takes the place of a lower splash shield. It opens to relieve the high pressure that builds in front of the radiator and allow that air to enter the slipstream along the belly pan. This cuts downforce and drag for maximum speed. In the corners, you need as much downforce as possible, and the rear system is quite a treat. We guessed the rear spoiler would change its angle like every other supercar, but Lamborghini came up with something all new. Two air ducts in the rear wheel wells are routed through the spoiler’s legs to force high-pressure air into the turbulence generated by the wing. While it’s not strong enough to produce forward thrust, it greatly reduces the low-pressure bubble behind the car. Another trick is air vectoring, which Lamborghini claims enhanced traction when turning. Have a great weekend and stay with us for all your Lamborghini Huracan news!

BMW 6 Series Coupe – End of Production

BMW Bids Farewell To The 6 Series Coupe

Something new is on the horizon at BMW, so it’s time to thin out the herd. A BMW spokesperson has confirmed with Road & Track that the two-door Coupe versions of the 6 Series ended production in February. The 6 Series Sedan, which is called the Gran Coupe for some reason, will remain around for a little longer probably because it appeals to more buyers. But for us in the minority, a sedan just isn’t appealing. We had a bright blue M6 convertible as a press car last year, and it was a true delight.

The 3rd generation 6 Series arrived in 2012 as the F12 chassis coupe and F13 chassis convertible. Powered by the unstoppable 3.0 liter straight six, it is a comfortable and capable touring car. When we saw the refreshed version in 2015 we figured it wasn’t going anywhere, because why spend the money to restyle it for a 2-year run? The answer might have been to distract the competition.

They introduced the 2015 model as new, but it was merely revised styling along with updated technology. We’ve driven several examples of both versions and they are fun in ever circumstance. Technology has made leaps in the automotive world since the introduction of the chassis, and the hottest application of it has been the carbon fiber structure of the 7 series. What began with their flagship sedan is destined to trickle down into the lesser models, so it was time to put the big two-door out to pasture in order to build something new. Speculation points to a return of the 8 Series, so as soon as we know you will see it here first.

One-Millionth Porsche 911

The One-Millionth Porsche 911 Has Been Created, and It’s Stunning

at home car detailing Phoenix

Someone in Stuttgart ordered a million balloons and 400 cases of beer to be delivered to the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen. The reason for such a party is the completion of the millionth Porsche 911. What began in 1963 has continually evolved, and raised the bar for all other sports cars. Only a few models in history have made it middle age, which is a testament to the engineers. In a press release earlier this morning, Dr. Wolfgang Porsche reminisces about his first experience in his father’s car: “54 years ago, I was able to take my first trips over the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with my father. The feeling of being in a 911 is just as enjoyable now as it was then. That’s because the 911 has ensured that the core values of our brand are as visionary today as they were in the first Porsche 356/1 from 1948”.

His father, Ferdinand used the chassis of the VW Beetle to develop the first Porsche, which was the 356. The money from the first orders was used for bail money to free his imprisoned father. Family means the world to Porsche, and their descendants are major shareholders in VW group. The boss also mentioned that this special 911 Carrera S would be embarking on a world tour. From the Scottish Highlands to around the ‘Ring, and then a stop in Atlanta at the North American headquarters.

The Carrera S coupe is finished in a custom shade of Irish Green with several exclusive features relating to the original 911. Records show that over 70% of all 911s are still registered, which would make you wonder how they continue to sell over 700,000 cars on the road. But last year saw 32,365 new 911s delivered, so the car speaks for itself. The 911 has been the backbone of our magazine since the beginning. Our demographics show that a majority of our subscribers have owned one, if not multiple examples in their lifetime. So if you would like to experience one for yourself our dealers stand ready to help.

Congratulations to Dr. Porsche and company for a million great cars.

cleaning inside of car

Since Ferrari’s inception, there have been an almost limitless amount of colors of paint that have graced the exteriors of their cars. And now, thanks to Ferrari Tailor Made, customers can cover their personalized Italian supercar in the color of their dreams.

Reviving Rosso Dino

About 14 years ago, one customer sat down with Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach in order to commission their new Enzo supercar. This discerning customer wanted a unique color that represented the heritage that the Enzo was to carry. After much discussion, he landed on Rosso Dino. This orange non-metallic paint was named after Enzo Ferrari’s son, Dino and had been dormant for decades. The classic cars this paint was used on originally included the likes of the 246 GT Dino, 365 GTB/4 Daytona and more.

Ferrari pulled the paint code out of the archives and made the customer’s wish come true. Upon delivery, the Enzo showed up in a stunning paint that had not been seen on a new car for a long time. Since this Enzo used the Rosso Dino paint, newer cars like the F12berlinetta, 458, California T and even the LaFerrari have been finished in this rare paint.

Now’s the Chance to Own a Legend

Now, over a decade later, the original owner is putting this one-off supercar up for sale through Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach. This Florida-based dealership has had their own Enzo specialist service the car in their Service Center over the years and has kept it in impeccable condition. Over those 14 years, the owner only clocked 3,611 miles on the odometer, keeping it incredibly low in terms of mileage.

Porsche 911 GT1 Is Street Legal

Porsche 911 GT1 Is Street Legal Madness

A very thin line exists between street cars and race cars. For certain classes of racing, manufacturers are obligated to build street legal examples in order to be eligible to race. Known as “homologation cars” they must conform to some notions of civility, which mostly means lights, turn signals, and seatbelts. The Goodwood Festival of Speed is an annual gathering of all things automotive, and its the best way to see classics in action. En route to the 75th members meeting, Henry Hope-Frost was a lucky hitchhiker who flagged down a stunning Porsche 911 GT1.

Built to compete in the FIA GT Championship, Porsche was going up against the McLaren F1 and the CLK-GTR from Mercedes-AMG. The late 90’s were a time of aero wars between the brands. Computer simulations were doing the best they could to predict airflow at high speeds, and it led to ridiculous spoilers and ducts of incredible proportions. The GT1 was a tube frame chassis that used production 911 suspension components and a 3.2-liter twin turbo flat six. The street version had to be detuned slightly for European emissions, but it made a shocking 537 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque. Performace was record setting, even in terms of modern cars. It is capable of reaching 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a quarter mile in 11.6. We wish the US had the same street-legal standards as England because it would give us an opportunity to see more classics in action. Stay with us for full coverage of Goodwood here on Autofluence.

McLaren P1 Hillclimb Record

Onboard a McLaren P1 LM Smashing a Goodwood Hillclimb Record

There are only a few cars that are more extreme than the McLaren P1, with the P1 LM being one of them. This hypercar is a road-going version of the P1 GTR, a transformation that was completed by Lanzante, a British automotive company. The conversion from the P1 GTR to the P1 LM involved a litany of operations, including swapping out the exhaust and bolts, removing the air-jack system, and more.

Recently, at the Festival of SPeed’s Supercar Shootout held at Goodwood’s Hillclimb, Kenny Brack drove the McLaren P1 LM like a mad man. Ultimately, he broke the track’s record and recorded the fastest time set by a road legal car during the shootout. You can view his entire run from onboard the car by clicking play below.
